So, first I would like to thank Country Chic Paint for sending me some fun goodies to try! I am seriously over the moon excited about the colors they offer, and I was a gitty little kid when I received the package. No joke. I have to admit I don’t paint with “chalk” based paints very often. It’s not that I don’t love all the perks that go along with little prep and smooth finishes. It’s just not my cup of tea. Its totally a personal preference. So many of my talented painter friends swear by it and they have some really beautiful finishes. I just like thinner paint, that is easily workable and distresses nicely. With all this being said, I always love trying new paint, because every single one is different! Let me just say…without a doubt. I. AM. IN. LOVE. from the moment I shook the can..,I just knew I would love it. The consistency is not only smooth and easy to work with but it drys fast and sands beautifully. Its thin without being “watery”, almost like a great latex paint. Here are the beautiful colors I ordered: Midnight Sky, Lazy Linen, Sweet Dreams, Refreshed, and Bliss.
I was so eager to get started I painted an old cabinet I’ve had for probably 4 or 5 years and never painted. I always had a soft grey in mind…and I tried mixing the perfect shade of milk paint (which is usually my go-to), but I couldn’t get the color I wanted. I thought I would give Lazy Linen a try which is one of Country Chic’s Limited Edition Colors. I only used one coat…seriously. The coverage was perfect. I wanted a very primitive, aged look. I had no clumping, or brush strokes! I lightly sanded with 220 after, to age it but did no prep work at all. I did have a little bleed through, so I lightly sprayed Zinsser lacquer spray (which blocks bleed through very well!) and dry brushed over. I can not say enough about how much I enjoyed this paint, I am so excited that I will have many many before and afters to share as I prepare for my friend Alisons new store mid next month (The Modern Cottage Company)!Here he is before…
