Before and After–Black Chippy Dresser

I am so excited to do a post on this piece. It was actually a piece I found months ago (with a sister lowboy). I found him while thrift shopping with my grandma on our weekly visits, but I passed them both up. The prices were so high, I had to. I left my card and said please call me if the price goes down. Weeks went by and of course I never received a call. I dont usually stop at this particular shop because I never have much luck there, but I decided to stop in again and both matching beauties were still there (much to my surprise!). I played it cool. Kinda. This time I made an offer and played hookie… And they said yes. I can be very persistent. I don’t have a great before picture but you can see, the blonde wood was pretty. The drawers were in bad shape, but overall it had so much potential. I decided to go with Old Fashioned Milk Paint Co. sealed with General Finishes High Performance Top Coat and Maison Blanche Dark Wax. All favorites of mine and a great combo to get a chippy deep black smooth finish.

This is my studio, as clean as it will ever be…and that pretty furball is Clementine. It felt so good to paint, I feel refreshed and inspired. My week was a challenge and stretched me as a person. Mike came home and watched the kiddos so I could unwind. I put on Pandora, mixed some paint and kinda got lost in what I do..and it felt great.  Every once in awhile you need the reminder that you are in the right place, exactly where you should be. Everyone needs balance and perspective.

Here he is all dressed up..

Now his sister lowboy needs some style. I’m thinking Navy with big bone knobs..

Before and After–Green Sideboard

Super Duper short post today but I didn’t want to leave this lady out. I took the last few days off with my kiddos and came out feeling so inspired. I painted two pieces this afternoon that I am so excited to finish and stage them. I needed a day like today to remind me that I am exactly where I should be, doing exactly what I love, days like that are so needed. More on those goodies later. I worked on this piece last week for the new Modern Cottage Company store. When I got her she was in pretty good shape but needed a little fun in her life. Ive been wanting to use this color again so badly! I used one of my all time favorite greens, Tavern Green by The Old Fashioned Milk Paint Company and pretty bone knobs.

Before and After –Grey Armoire

I painted a sweet little armoire this week in a really simple and perfect shade of grey called Lazy Linen by Country Chic Paint. I had done a similar cabinet a few weeks back but couldn’t part with it since it was given to me by my aunt and I really love it. When I saw this piece I knew a soft color would serve it justice. I find that I always have to add a little flair, and I am hooked on mixing solid color with dry brushing. It’s a fantastic way to highlight details or add character. The wood inside is such a warm beautiful tone, so I kept it natural. Here what she looked like before…

My good friend Alison of The Modern Cottage Company is opening a brand new store July 19th! So excited for her and to be apart of her lovely new space. She’s fantastic, and its such a huge honor. This piece will be heading to the grand opening in Old Town Tacoma Wa. I have a gorgeous green buffet reveal Im working on…stay tuned!
